BEGINNERS CLASS

This level is suitable for those who have not been to a bellydance class. The course covers the fundamentals of bellydance such as correct posture, positioning of feet and basic moves (shimmies, bumps, flicks, eights).
  Each term a routine will be taught so students can see how the moves fit together in response to the music. The focus is on having fun and introducing students to the world of Bellydance. A hip scarf or coin belt is recommended to accentuate the hip movements but is not essential. (students can purchase a hip scarf in class for $25)
 

BEYOND BEGINNERS

This level is recommended for the student who has mastered the basic moves and can confidently execute them. At least two terms of beginner classes are recommended before progressing to this level. This class is for students interested in developing their dancing ability and learning more intricate movements.
  The course covers layering of moves, complex footwork, travelling steps and use of props such as the veil. Routines that incorporate the moves and combinations drilled in class will be taught each term. A hip scarf or coin belt is recommended to accentuate the hip movements but is not essential. (students can purchase a hip scarf in class for $25)
 

OPEN CLASS

This class caters for students of all levels – from beginners through to advanced levels. Basic movements are covered for beginning students and more advanced students are given layers, arm movements and complex footwork to add to the basic movements. All students are given individualised feedback which relates to their ability level. Feedback is always given in a positive manner and is sensitively given to each student.
 

TROUPE CLASS (Invitation only)

This class is for students wanting to gain experience performing at festivals, expos and fundraising events. Students involved in this class are committed to practising at home and working towards mastery of complex combinations and choreography. Please contact Jill for more information.

PRIVATE CLASS

Private classes are recommended for students of all levels. Each class is tailored towards the student’s ability and will be planned in consultation with the student. Classes can be focused on skills such as basic moves, arm positions, shimmies, performance, travelling steps, use of props etc. One private class is said to be equivalent to 4 to 5 group classes. WORKSHOPS

Workshops are held depending on requests and number of students interested. Previous workshops have focused on Isis Wings, drum solo, Bellydance and Bollywood. Please contact Jill for further information. Workshops have been held in Sydney and the Newcastle area (Nelson Bay).
 

COSTS

$120 / 8 week term (beginners)
$120 / 8 week term (beyond beginners)
$160 / 8 weeks (troupe class)
$70 / 1 hour private class (price may vary depending on location of class)
